Description[edit | edit source]

In the vanilla game, you may happen across Curator Givens' terminal in the Boston Public Library, on which he asks whoever finds it to protect the data he and his team have been preserving by compressing it on the BPL Mainframe. The trouble is you can't do that, which leaves an open end in the encounter/location.

Keen observers will know that the actual mainframe is out of bounds so you can't get to it, so this mod recreates the mainframe inside the same room as Curator Givens' corpse and allows you to complete his work. On the mainframe, it will note that 1 outstanding book is needed to complete the data collection process - this book is the one Daisy gives you in Goodneighbor, so once you have returned that to the Book Return Terminal you can then return to the BPL Mainframe, complete the compression process, and become custodian of the BPL Compressed Data which gives you an additional experience reward.

For those who are curious, I have spent a considerable amount of time trawling through the game and its files, including audio assets, and there is nothing to suggest that you could do anything with the BPL Compressed data (not even Proctor Quinlan has anything to say about it) so it seems the intention was simply to keep it to prevent it being destroyed or lost forever.
