Description
If you've ever had the feeling the Prydwen Quarters cell was thrown together by a Bethesda intern on a Friday afternoon, this will be the mod for you.
The mod turns the Prydwen Quarters into a fully decorated and functional old-school player home (NO workshop) with some of the scripted interactive features found in my other FO4 player home mods.
I thought it was great that the Brotherhood of Steel gifted you a player home after completing the Blind Betrayal quest. It's the closest thing Fallout 4 has to the faction safehouses I loved using in Fallout: New Vegas. But, man...was I ever disappointed after walking into the cell for the first time. The Prydwen Quarters looked like it was together by a Bethesda intern on a Friday afternoon. It was essentially an empty room with a bed and not much else, having no character whatsoever. This mod aims to resolve this "oversight."
I've turned the Prydwen Quarters into a functional and stylish old-school player home, while trying to balance a higher level of comfort with the fact the room is crammed into the hull of a military airship. Everything in the cell has its place and purpose. No space is wasted, yet the room is light years beyond the vanilla cell in terms of functionality.
Some design compromises needed to be made to achieve this, so the cell is slightly deeper than the vanilla cell. It was the only way to include a power armor station and all other workbenches while having the ability to make them easily accessible and usable.
Features
- After entering the Prydwen Quarters for the first time, you will be able to Fast Travel directly to the room. Multiple load screens be gone! A new map marker will be enabled on your map after entering for the first time
- Power Armor Station, Weapon workbench, Armor Workbench, Cooking station and Chemistry station. All are linked to the Boston Airport workshop to share resources
- Custom design workbenches
- You can now Fast Travel from inside the Prydwen Quarters
- Custom collectible magazine (The Prydwen Officer’s Manual) that grants the Nerves of Steel perk (AP regenerates at a 30% faster rate). The Nerves of Steel perk appears in both Fallout 3 (Broken Steel DLC) and Fallout: New Vegas.
- Lots of custom assets and textures
- Working light switches and desk lamps
- Bed that gives the Well Rested/Lover's Embrace bonuses
- Two working sinks for clean water
- Functional bed for Dogmeat. Command him to use it and he'll stay out of your way! Dog bed can be changed to couch via an activator button (is the couch by default)
- Working shower gives +2 Charisma boost for eight hours (the only shower on the Prydwen!)
- Contraptions DLC weapon display racks
- Contraptions DLC Armor Displays: gender of mannequins can be changed via terminal to match your character gender
- Fully navmeshed for companions with idle and comment markers
- Bed, terminal and steamer trunk display the player character's name
- Optional upgrades for purchase from terminal: Bobblehead display cabinet, magazine rack, trash compactor
- Two inventory sorting systems: one container based, the other terminal based
- Working refrigerator: Insert any Nuka Cola, Vim or Gwinnett beer variant and it will be come Ice Cold with the associated buff in six hours
- Player's name and current BOS rank displayed on terminal menu. After finishing Blind Betrayal (BOS302) your rank is displayed as Paladin. After completing the quest A New Dawn (BOS305) your rank will be displayed as Sentinel, and a new message from Elder Maxson will be displayed
- Interactive storage units: Weapon storage, ammo shelf, explosives shelf, armor/weapon mods shelf, power armor parts shelf, chem shelf, and food shelf will display clutter when items of each category are added. Clutter will deactivate when container is emptied
- Trash Compactor unit (optional purchase from terminal) that breaks junk items into their base components and transfers them to the workshop storage
- Lots of custom assets!
- Brotherhood inspired propaganda posters
- FO3 and FNV nostalgia with repro props of skill books and magazines from those games
- Working Wonder Meat Maker: an import from the Capital Wasteland! Now you can enjoy Mole Rat Wonder Meat in Boston!
GETTING INSIDE THE PRYDWEN QUARTERS: Nothing has been changed regarding how you gain access to the Prydwen Quarters. You must still complete the Blind Betrayal quest (BOS302). Until you complete this quest, the door to the cell (on the Prydwen Main Deck) will remain locked.
OPTIONAL HOUSE UPGRADES – Purchase from the Terminal:
- Yes! I'm getting on board the microtransaction bandwagon!
- Three optional upgrades are available for purchase from the terminal:
- 1. Bobblehead display cabinet: activates next to the desk, replaces one of the book cabinets
- 2. Magazine rack (holds 20 magazines): activates along the divider wall across from the workbenches
- 3. Trash compactor (breaks junk items into their base components and transfers them to the workshop storage): activates behind the power armor station, replacing the pile of clutter under the tool box
ALL UPGRADE PURCHASES ARE FINAL! No refunds or exchanges! Once you buy and activate an upgrade, you CAN NOT deactivate it, so make sure you really want it!
The Wonder Meat Maker: An import from the Capital Wasteland...now in Boston!
The Brotherhood of Steel is known for having a penchant for technology and gadgets. One such gadget they brought from the Capital Wasteland is the Wonder Meat Maker. With this nifty little device (and the proper ingredients) you will be able to make the Capital Wasteland delicacy known as: Mole Rat Wonder Meat!
The Mole Rat Wonder Meat Maker is located on a counter in the cooking area of the Prydwen Quarters. Mole Rat Wonder Meat is a unique blend of Mole Rat Meat and adhesive. It gives 4x the HP regen of normal Mole Rat Meat with slightly less rads.
Each piece of Mole Rat Wonder Meat made with the Wonder Meat Maker requires:
- Mole Rat Meat – 1
- Adhesive – 2
So when you need food go for Wonder Meat, a meal that will really stick to your ribs...literally
NOTE: If you are using my Listening Post Zulu and/or Subway Safehouse mods: the Wonder Meat made with those mods will have a different FormID than the Wonder Meat from this mod, so there will be additional Wonder Meat entries in your inventory if you make meat with any of those mods in addition to this one.
NOTES ON INTERACTIVE FEATURES: There is some very important information in the READ ME regarding the interactive features of the mod. I strongly suggest you read it THOROUGHLY before asking questions or reporting issues. Questions regarding items clearly spelled out the in the READ ME or mod description will likely not be responded to.
A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ON THE ARMOR DISPLAY MANNEQUINS: ALWAYS remove ALL items from the mannequin before changing the gender. If you do not, you will PERMANENTLY loose those items! This is a vanilla issue with the mannequins and is the same issue they exhibit when storing them to the workbench in workshop mode. You have been warned!
The Contraptions DLC Armor Displays have a reputation of randomly not spawning the first time a player enters the cell they are in. This is a vanilla issue potentially found in any mod that uses these items and is not exclusive to this one. I personally have never had this happen, but know of other mods and users that have experienced it. If you encounter this issue (in any mod, not just this one) save your game, quit to the desktop, relaunch the game and reload your save. That will fix it. Alternately, quit to the desktop, relaunch the game and reload a save prior to entering the cell and try again.
Issues
Obviously, this mod will conflict with anything that makes changes to the Prydwen Quarters cell (PrydwenHull03).
Wasteland Imports: places three bottles of Aqua Pura into the cell. With this mod enabled, they will spawn on the chairs against the counter in the kitchen area.
ITEMS TO NOTE: Position of exterior map marker: The fast travel marker for the Quarters is a bit further from the airport/Prydwen docking position than I had wanted. But it works as intended. I didn't feel like changing it and doesn't bother me where it is. It shouldn't bother you either.
Multiple companions: I generally play with two companions, and found the vanilla spawn point by the door was a bit crowded with the divider wall that I added. The door spawn marker was moved further ahead to compensate.
Armor Displays: When displaying outfits that include backpacks, the backpack may clip into the rib along the wall behind the display. The BOS Field Scribe armor is an example of this. But it is really not very noticeable. Unless of course, someone tells you about it...
PERFORMANCE AND OPTIMIZATION: Many of the vanilla items in the vanilla Prydwen Quarters cell were reused for this overhaul. Those that were not, were set to Initially Disabled and moved out of the room bounds.
Precombined meshes and previs data for the cell regenerated. If you are playing your game with the optimization system disabled you may encounter preculling issues in the cell. Running Fallout 4 with precombines and previs disabled is not recommended.
Most original lighting was reused, but a few new shadowed light sources have been added.
