Latest version 1.0
Release date 2023-11-15

Description

What it does

  • Give light skin to Baranor.
  • Replace he's loading/splash screen images with another one.

What it does NOT

  • Change Baranor facial feature and hairstyle.

I am not good enough of a modder to do it properly, if you can, feel free to update it. I have joined in a separate folder the mesh, skeleton and textures related to Baranor.

How to install:

Modding this game require quite a few things.

  • First, you need to install the Middle-Earth Mod Loader; I got it here
  • Middle-Earth Mod Loader require the latest version of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables. 2015-2022 (x64)
  • Do not forget to make a backup of the bink2w64.dll file that the mod loader will replace.
  • Go to your game's installation folder, Probably located at ...\steamapps\common\ShadowOfWar\x64 and rename the normal bink2w64.dll file to bink2w64_.dll
  • Place the modloader folder and the new bink2w64.dll in the x64 game folder.
  • Now you gonna need the Shadow of War Loader
  • Finally, place the plugins folder of my mod into the x64 game folder.
  • The pathing should go as x64\plugins\Loader\Baranorfix\Signatures

That's it.

To uninstall, simply remove the files. If you are feeling lazy you can simply use the original bink2w64.dll again. Without the modded one nothing happen.

Problem & Solutions

The bink2w64.dll from the Middle-Earth Mod Loader can crash the game if you are:

  • Changing your UI, audio or graphic settings
  • Taking picture with Photo mode
  • Starting a new game from scratch

I only made the texture not the utilities, i have no idea how to fix that. But here is a very easy way around the problem:

  • Remove the problematic bink2w64.dll
  • Give back the original bink2w64._dll it's normal name.
  • Launch the game and get your setting as you want them, start your new game if you want and leave once you are loaded in.
  • Put an underscore once more to the original .dll, and place back the no longer problematic one in it's place.

About my mod, if you do not see changes in the game with it installed properly try re-generating the signature.

  • Remove the Signatures folder
  • open the Loader.ini and set cache to 0 (generate) & launch the game.
  • You can now exit the game, a new signatures folder should be back, hopefully good for you this time.
  • Put the cache in the Loader.ini back to to 1 (read).

Done.
