The Cambridge Bungalow is a small player home in the tradition of player home mods from Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Packed with scripted interactive features, the house was designed with an eye towards Survival mode and Fallout: FROST playthroughs.

Description[edit | edit source]

Note: This is a player HOME, not a player SETTLEMENT. There is no settlement workshop and one will not be added so please don’t ask. Most items are static, but there are a some lootable items and containers. All workbenches and cooking stations are linked.

NOTE: If you are using this mod in FROST v.41 along with the FROST - Unofficial Boston FPS Fix mod, please refer to the A SPECIAL NOTE FOR FROST PLAYERS section below.

THE OPTIONAL FILE IS FOR FROST PLAYERS ONLY AND IS UNSUPPORTED! If you are NOT using this mod in FROST v.41 with the Unofficial FPS Fix, DO NOT download the Optional File unless you want to have serious performance and graphics issues!

October 2077: A young Cambridge couple goes away on vacation, leaving the key to their small home with an employee of the hardware store across the street.

Then the bombs fell.

Get the key, and the house is yours.

In the tradition of player home mods from Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, I present the Cambridge Bungalow.

The Cambridge Bungalow is a small player home packed with scripted interactive features and designed with an eye towards Survival mode and Fallout: FROST playthroughs.

Location: The Cambridge Bungalow is located in the north end of Cambridge, right across the street from the Plumber’s Secret unmarked location, and just behind Wattz Consumer Electronics.

Requirements: The Far Harbor DLC is required. There will not be a non-DLC version.

NOTE: If you are using this mod in FROST v.41 along with the FROST - Unofficial Boston FPS Fix mod, please refer to the A SPECIAL NOTE FOR FROST PLAYERS section below before downloading.

Notes on interactive features: Please read the READ ME file for info on the interactive features. Most questions will likely be answered by reading the document. There is a lot of info on how the sorting systems work in the READ ME that I didn't want to clutter up the mod page with.

My video has demonstrations of some of the interactive features

Installation[edit | edit source]

Use Nexus Mod Manager

Or to install manually:

  • Extract the archive. It contains three files:
  • RRTV_CambridgeBungalow.esp
  • RRTV_CambridgeBungalow – Main.BA2
  • RRTV_CambridgeBungalow – Textures.BA2
  • Place all three files into your Data folder.

Potential mod conflicts[edit | edit source]

If you use any mod that make changes to the Wattz Consumer Electronics/Plumbers Secret area of Cambridge, there is a potential for conflicts. This mod regenerates the precombined and previs data for the exterior cells surrounding the Bungalow. Any mod that makes changes and/or also regenerates the precombined and previs data for the same cells as this one will conflict and likely cause graphical issues.

Any mod that changes the same cells which DISABLES the optimization system will likely have an adverse effect on performance and frame rate. In both of the above cases, you will need to adjust your load order to see which mod you want to take priority. These are side effects of Bethesda’s “awesome” optimization system and cannot be resolved without making multiple compatibility patches for EVERY mod that touches a cell.

Recommended Mods: I can't say enough good things about NPCs Travel by skyquest. It allows you to add roaming NPCs of varying factions and races to your game, making the Commonwealth seem like it's actually lived in. The road in front of the Bungalow becomes a busy place with this mod installed, adding a new level of immersion to the game.

A SPECIAL NOTE FOR FROST PLAYERS: On it’s own, the Cambridge Bungalow is fully compatible with FROST v.41 (the latest version as of this writing). HOWEVER, if you are using the FROST - Unofficial Boston FPS Fix you WILL encounter SERIOUS preculling and various other graphical issues in the entire Cambridge area if you use that mod with v1.2 of the Cambridge Bungalow. As stated above, this is an unavoidable side effect (conflict) of the game’s optimization system and occurs when two mods modify the same cell and each has its own optimization data.

As a workaround, I am posting an optional file of v1.2 that leaves the precombined meshes/previs for the cells the Bungalow is located in disabled. Install the “Cambridge Bungalow FROST-NO PREVIS” version of this mod. Put it ABOVE the FROST.fix.esp file of the Unofficial Boston FPS Fix. You will still see some minor z-space flicker on a snow pile in front of the Bungalow, but this is unavoidable annoyance that is far outweighed by the performance benefits that the Unofficial Boston FPS Fix brings to FROST gameplay.

Use the “Cambridge Bungalow FROST-NO PREVIS” ONLY if you are using both “FROST” AND the “ FROST - Unofficial Boston FPS Fix” AT THE SAME TIME! The “Cambridge Bungalow FROST-NO PREVIS” version should NOT be used in any other circumstance! If you are using FROST without the FPS Fix mod, use the main file of the Cambridge Bungalow!

Please note that the “Cambridge Bungalow FROST-NO PREVIS” version will NOT be maintained or updated.
