Description[edit | edit source]

This mod adds autonomous combat drones to the game. You can find them in various places (mostly higher level places, Far Harbor and Nuka World), craft them in your workshop as settlement defense units or craft them as deployable followers.

Drones might also take part in random encounters.

The drones are agile, powerful and have high range.

They're completely custom. They do not conflict with any other race/robot replacer or modification mod. They do however edit the Random Encounter SM Node. There aren't many mods that do the same (SKK's Random encounters doesn't, for example. It has its own system).

Requirements:

  • Fallout 4 version 1.10.162 or later
  • DLC: Nuka World
  • DLC: Far Harbor
  • DLC: Automatron

How To Acquire:

You can craft the workshop injector and the follower drones at the chemlab under "Drones".

The workshop menu gets injected into Defense and is also called "Drones".

There are three levels of drones. Luna, Hawk, Hornet. They get more powerful, and more durable on the higher levels.

There are also special ones for certain factions. The Institute, Gunners and the BoS have their own variants with different weapons.

You can craft the BoS and the Institute versions in your workshop if you're a member of the respective faction. Otherwise, you can only craft the regular ones.

In Nuka world, you can encounter the "Nuka Drones". VaultTec also has their variants which you can rarely see around vaults.

Weapons:

The drones use, by default, 5.56mm miniguns. The Institute version uses blue laser gatling and the BoS uses either minigun or red laser gatling. The Gunner variant uses either miniguns or plasma gatling.

Follower Drone:

The follower drone can spot and mark enemies in its range. They're highlighted red, even through walls. So you never run around unprepared with the drone spotting enemies.

Follower drones can be destroyed. You cannot repair them. If they're destroyed, you need a new one. You can carry as any as you want, but they weight 85LBS each.

You can have as many following you as you want at the same time, but keep in mind that they block each other for pathing. 1-2 works fine. 3 already causes one to warp quite often.

Workshop:

The Workshop drones patrol in a rather large radius around their placement position. Make sure to give them enough room to navigate. And don't build too many obstacles around them.

When you open workshop mode, the drones will get down onto the ground when they're not in combat, so you can grab them. You can also see a drone marker. This is the spot you placed the drone initially and the spot that defines the center of the patrol radius. If you grab and move the drone, the marker will be moved to the new position.

The drones will not move down, when they're in combat.

The drones have high perk and material requirements, but they're powerful and provide 12 (Luna), 15 (Hawk) and 20 (Hornet) of defense rating for your settlement.

When a workshop drone gets destroyed, it sinks to the ground wand waits for repair.

Notes:

The drones are almost unable to navigate indoors. They're mostly outdoor units

Due to their size, and how "floating" works in this game, the drones can have pathing issues in certain dense areas. Boston downtown is also bad due to the advertisment boards that are mounted to the buildings. The drone will warp to you if it cannot path.
