==Description==

I’ve always thought the Atom Cats were one of Bethesda’s greatest missed opportunities for Fallout 4. They could have been so much more than what we ended up with, and that was always a disappointment. That being said, I always thought the Atom Cats Garage was a great location and I used it as a base in my first few playthroughs. I decided it was finally time to give the location a proper player home.

This mod adds a new warehouse building to the empty space across the road from the Atom Cats Garage. The load door leads to a two-level interior cell player home with a large power armor garage holding ten power armor stations. An additional two power armor stations are located outside.

NO changes to the Atom Cats Garage location have been made! All my additions are on the side of the road opposite the Atom Cats Garage.

Like all of my previous Fallout 4 player home mods, the Atom Cats Crib is fully furnished and functional with many interactive scripted features including two inventory sorting systems, a working power lift elevator platform, working light switches and much more. It is highly decorated and detailed with loads of custom assets.

The player home is fully navmeshed for companions with many idle and comment markers. The interior cell and all containers in it will not reset so all storage is safe. The bed gives the Well Rested and Lover’s Embrace bonuses and there is plenty of clean water for Survival mode. All workbenches are linked to share resources.

PLEASE NOTE: This is player HOME, not a SETTLEMENT! - There is NO workshop! - You can not assign settlers here! - You can not dismiss companions here! - You can not create supply lines here! - This mod was made for my own game the way I wanted it, and I will not be making changes or taking “requests.”

Most items are static, but there are a multiple lootable items and containers.

Requirements: This mod requires the following Fallout 4 DLC: Automatron (DLCRobot) Far Harbor (DLCCoast) Nuka World (DLCNukaWorld) Contraptions Workshop (DLCworkshop02)

Gaining access to The Atom Cats Crib

To gain entry to the player home, you must buy the key from Rowdy at the Atom Cats Garage. The purchase price will vary depending on your character’s Charisma and Barter skills. After you buy the key from Rowdy and enter the home for the first time, you will receive a notification that you can Fast Travel directly to the Crib interior. Your Pip-Boy map will be updated with a new map marker for the Atom Cats Crib. Fast Traveling to that map marker will spawn you inside the home.

You will also receive a notification that you can now purchase optional house upgrades from Rowdy at the Atom Cats Garage. See the “OPTIONAL HOUSE UPGRADES” section below for details.

All lights inside the home are off by default when you enter for the first time. Each room has a light switch to control the lights. The lights for the Garage are controlled by the circuit breaker switch in the Office. All room lights (except for the Garage lights) can be controlled via the terminals.

NOTE: If for whatever reason you’ve killed Rowdy (or she has otherwise died), you’re sort of S.O.L. for using this mod as it was intended since you won’t be able to buy the key or upgrades from her.

Exterior Features:

- Functioning exterior lighting - Two power armor stations* - Cooking grill* - Radio - Car Seat Couch - A dog house - Optional upgrade for four machine gun turrets (purchased from Rowdy) - Windows emit light if interior lights are on

An optional file (.esp only) is available which sets Peepers the Eyebot to Essential.

  • NOTE: The exterior cooking grill and power armor stations are NOT linked to the shared workbench storage until AFTER you buy the key from Rowdy. If you have any items stored in them, REMOVE THEM BEFORE BUYING THE KEY! If you don’t, you will PERMANENTLY loose those items!

The Atom Cats Crib rooms and their features (short and sweet version): Upper Level: Office: Load door to the exterior cell, Sorting container (on shelf to the left of the door), desk, computer terminal that displays the player’s name

Living Room: Jukebox music system that plays the “Atom Cats Radio” channel. This is essentially Diamond City Radio but without Travis and is what all the radios around the Atom Cats Garage play in the vanilla game. The music system has speakers in the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom

Bedroom: Bed (gives the Well Rested and Lover’s Embrace bonuses) with Player’s name, desk, two armor display mannequins, armor locker, clothing locker, safe behind moving painting

Lower Level: Kitchen: Cooking Stove, Refrigerator, Food Storage, working sink, Nuka-Mixer station, optional Nuka-Cola display shelf upgrade (purchased from Rowdy)

Lounge: Three optional upgrades (purchased from Rowdy): Bobblehead Display Cabinet, Magazine Shelves, Model Robot Display Shelf. There is a vanilla rotating magazine rack by default.

Bathroom: Chem station, Chem and Aid storage, working sink, working shower (gives +2 Charisma boost for eight hours), toilet, Barber Chair, optional upgrades for My First Infirmary and My First Laboratory Units (purchased from Rowdy)

The Garage (Upper and Lower Levels): 10 power armor stations, working elevator platform, armor workbench, weapons workbench, four armor display mannequins, computer terminal, optional Nuka Cola vending machine upgrade (purchased from Rowdy), power armor parts storage, armor and clothing storage (linked to bedroom storage), Trash Compactor, optional Fusion Core Charger upgrade (purchased from Rowdy)

The Armory: lots of Contraptions weapon display racks, labeled storage for Ballistic, Energy and Melee Weapons, ammo and explosives storage, functional Cryolator display case, door can be unlocked/locked by Garage terminal (next to the door)

About the location

The location of the new warehouse was chosen specifically because the space is empty in the vanilla game. Some shrubs were moved and/or set to Initially Disabled, and the bus stop was moved to a slightly different location.

Absolutely NO changes have been made to the Atom Cats Garage itself. Anything changed or added by this mod are on the side of the road opposite the garage and confined to the area of the fence around the warehouse.

A brief backstory about the location can be found by reading Rowdy’s journal entries on the terminal. Pre-War, the building was an MTA maintenance facility. The Atom Cats rehabilitated it by removing the collapsed ground level floor and clearing out rubble to open up the basement area.

OPTIONAL HOUSE UPGRADES – Purchase from Rowdy at the Atom Cats Garage

Yes! I’m getting on the micro transaction bandwagon!

If you would like to add some amenities to the Crib, you have the option to buy several add-on upgrades from Rowdy. House Upgrades are listed in the Misc category of her barter menu. Like other items, prices will vary based on your charisma and barter skills. Upon paying for your upgrade(s), you will see a notification message telling you it has been activated. Each upgrade will replace a default item as noted below. All upgrade add-ons are functional and custom designed.

ALL SALES ARE FINAL! No refunds or exchanges! Once you buy and activate an upgrade you CAN NOT deactivate it, so make sure you really want it!

Upgrades available for purchase are: - Bobblehead Display Case: activates in the Lounge, replaces the cabinet bookcase

- Robot Model Kit Shelf: activates in the Lounge, replaces abstract bottle painting above the bar counter

- Magazine Racks: activate in the Lounge, replaces the bookcases along the wall. Each rack will hold 20 magazines (just like the vanilla ones) for a total of 40

- Nuka Cola Display Shelf: activates in the Kitchen above the dinging counter, replacing the shelf with the plant and painting.

- Fusion Core Charger: activates in the Garage next to the Trash Compactor

- My First Infirmary: activates in the bathroom, replaces the table next to the Surgery Chair

- My First Laboratory: activates in the bathroom, replaces clutter on the counter next to the sink

- Nuka Cola Vending Machine: activates in garage, replaces the pile of crates under the stairs next to the bathroom door

- Exterior machine gun turrets: one turret activates on each corner of the building for a total of four. The turrets take 24 hours to be installed and you will receive a notification when they have been activated

NOTES ON THE TURRETS:

The four turrets are simply copies of the vanilla WorkshopTurretTripodMounted turrets used for settlement building. They are assigned to the Player and Atom Cats factions (so they will not be hostile to the Atom Cats). The turrets have been flagged as Essential and Invulnerable. However, if you use the KILLALL console command they will become inert and you will need to revert to an earlier save to restore them.

NOTES ON INTERACTIVE FEATURES

There is some very important information in the READ ME regarding the interactive features of the mod. I strongly suggest you read it THOROUGHLY before asking questions or reporting issues. Questions regarding items clearly spelled out the in the READ ME or mod description will likely not be responded to.

A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ON THE ARMOR DISPLAY MANNEQUINS:

ALWAYS remove ALL items from the mannequins before changing the gender. If you do not, you will PERMANENTLY loose those items! This is a vanilla issue with the mannequins and is the same issue they exhibit when storing them to the workbench in workshop mode. You have been warned!

The Contraptions DLC Armor Displays have a reputation of randomly not spawning the first time a player enters the cell they are in. This is a vanilla issue potentially found in any mod that uses these items and is not exclusive to this one. I personally have never had this happen, but know of other mods and users that have experienced it. If you encounter this issue (in any mod, not just this one) save your game, quit to the desktop, relaunch the game and reload your save. That will fix it. Alternately, quit to the desktop, relaunch the game and reload a save prior to entering the cell and try again.

Potential mod conflicts

While this mod makes no changes to the Atom Cats garage itself, it does regenerate the precombined/previs data for the AtomCatsGarageExt cell and the previs data for many surrounding cells. Therefore, it will most likely conflict with any mod that makes changes to the Atom Cats Garage or turns it into a settlement. Seriously, do we need to turn every location in the Commonwealth into a damned settlement?

You are on your own for testing mod compatibility. I have no intention of addressing any resulting mod conflicts you may encounter nor making patches for mods I don’t use, so please don’t ask.

If you do use another mod that alters the Atom Cats Garage and have success with it using this mod, please let me know and I'll update this information with what you share.

The only mods I use that make changes to the Atom Cats area are APC Transport and Red Wave Reloaded. Both of those mods work perfectly fine together alongside this mod. I have moved the bus stop from it’s vanilla location to open a little more space when the APC is parked in front of the warehouse building. I do recommend placing this mod below both of those in your load order, as that is how I have mine set up.

I also use NPCs Travel, and the NPCs added by that mod will “visit” the exterior portion of the Crib, use the cooking grill and sit on the couch.

Known/Potential issues

A detailed explanation of known or potential issues with this mod is outlined in the Read Me. Please go through the Read Me thoroughly before commenting or reporting a "problem!"

If you are using my Model Kit 2K Retextures and Collectible Boxes mod, please place this mod below that mod in your load order. If you don't you are likely to get missing textures on two of the Robot Model Kit boxes if you buy the model display shelf upgrade. There is a material path issue in the Model Kit mod that I need to go back and address. Adjusting your load order as I have described will fix the problem should you encounter it.
